Let's get from Carriage House to Cultural Center!

The Whitfield-Manjiro Friendship House Museum and Cultural Center was established through the amazing fund-raising efforts of Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara. At the dedication on May 7, 2009 he donated the property to the Town of Fairhaven on the condition that our non-profit organization would operate the facility. Since that time we have hosted more than 11,000 visitors from all parts of the world. The museum is now complete and we are moving forward with the second phase of the project which is to convert the carriage house to the Cultural Center.  We’re greatly elated by the addition of the students from the GNBRVTHS, who have donated their time and talent in four major construction areas.

We are excited to undertake this rewarding challenge and would invite you to join us in this effort. We look forward to utilizing the Cultural Center to not only continue our mission to promote Japan - U.S., cross-cultural exchange, but also to provide community programs of all kinds for our community!
